Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

Arrive Paro : During the flight, on a clear day, you can see breathtaking views of the Himalaya Mountains, including the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks in Bhutan . On arrival you will be welcome by the representative of Yeoong Travel and take to your hotel. In the afternoon you can stroll freely in the town. Overnight at hotel in Paro.

Day 02

In Paro : Morning two hours hike to reach Taktshang monastery, the name Taktsang means Tiger's Nest, the Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhawa, believed as the second Buddha or Precious Teacher flew to the site of the monastery on the back of tigress and then meditated there in the cave for three months. The main building of the monastery was destroyed by fire on 19 April 1998 and the Bhutan Government had re-constructed it in original form.

Later visit Drugyel Dzong (fortress), the ruined victorious fortress of the Drukpas, which once defended Paro from Tibetan invasion. The Dzong was built in 1649 by Shabdrung Nawang Namgyel to commemorate the victory of Bhutan over Tibetan Invaders in 1644. It was destroyed by fire in 1951. On a clear day you can see spectacular view of sacred Mountain Jumolhari from the vicinity of Dzong area. On the way back view Taktsang Monastery, the most famous and sacred monastery of Bhutan perched on the side of a cliff at 900m above the valley floor. Visit Kychu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in the Kingdom built in 659 AD by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. Visit National Museum popularly known to the local Bhutanese as Ta Dzong or Watch Tower, originally built in 1656 as the Watch Tower (Ta Dzong) of Paro Dzong and the Valley was renovated and converted into National Museum in 1968. Evening stroll around Paro town. Overnight at hotel in Paro.

Day 03

Paro to Thimphu: After breakfast we will drive 2hours to the capital of the country en-route we will be able to see the Tachogang Monaster and we will come accross three different styles of chortens adorn the confluence, before arriving Thimphu, visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom, built in 1627. The complex has survived in its original form and serves today, as religious college, in which, amongst other subjects, Dzongkha is taught.

Later we will visit the painting and woodcrafts schools where traditional painting and other arts are kept alive, visit the National Library and see the ancient manuscripts preserved there, visit Jungshi paper factory, third king’s memorial Chorten, visit Tashichho Dzong, the main Government Secretariat building, where the government ministries, the Office of His Majesty the King and the Throne Room, the offices and living quarters of the monk body and the Chief Abbot are housed. Evening stroll around Thimphu town. Over night Thimphu Hotel.

Day 04

Thimphu to Punakha: After breakfast 3 hours drive to Punakha with a stop en-route for tea at Dochu La (3,100 meters from sea level), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas and we will stop at Metshina Village and take a 20-minute walk through the rice fields to Chimi Lakhang, which is a fertility temple, where you may receive a special fertility blessing if you wish.

Later visit Punakha Dzong, the formal capital of Bhutan. It was built by Shabdrung in 1637 and situated in between the male and female rivers, from there take 5 minutes walk to longest suspension bridge to have cool male river breeze. Evening stroll around Punakha town. Over night Punakha Hotel.

Day 05

Punakha to Gangtey via Wangdue: After early breakfast you'll head to Gangtey (9840feet from sea level). On the way you will stop at Wangdue town located south of Punakha and is the last town before central Bhutan, visit Wangdue Dzong.

After lunch we will drivewe'll pass through dense forests of oak trees and rhododendrons and arrive at Gantey village, where you'll visit Gantey Gompa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan . From Gantey, you can see the picturesque Black Mountain range as well as Phobjika Valley , the winter habitat of the black-necked cranes. Overnight Gangtey Hotel.

Day 06

Gangtey to Trongsa: After breakfast you will drive 4 and ½ hours to Trongsa (Altitude: 7600 feet) the ancestral home of the royal family. The route is along a spectacular winding road, crossing 3,300-meter-high Pele La, and at certain times of year it's possible to see yaks. The journey to Central Bhutan begins early in the morning. The drive to Trongsa takes about 3hours and you will be passing through beautiful forests as well as high passes from where you can have breathtaking views of the Himalayas. On the way we will come across Chendepji Chorten situated on river confluence. This chorten or stupa was replicated from stupa in Nepal. A few minutes walk from the chorten lies a cafeteria where we will stop for lunch.

After lunch we will drive 2 hours and visit Trongsa Dzong one of the biggest and the most impressive dzong in Bhutan signifying the magnificent work of Buddhist architecture and visit Ta dzong (watchtower) built to guard the Trongsa Dzong from the inter-region and outside invaders. The tower inside the chapel dedicated to the Trongsa Penlop, Jigme Namgyal, father of the 1st king, recently it is converted to second national museum in Bhutan. Overnight Trongsa Hotel.

Day 07

Trongsa to Bumthang: Morning after breakfast you will drive 3 hours drive to Jakar/Bumthang (Altidude:8530 feet) this fascinating valley is the religious heartland of the nationand home of the oldest Buddhist temples and monastries. T he road quickly climbs up 7km to reach the Trongsa viewpoint, from where we get a splendid view of the Trongsa Dzong sitting on the ridge, 28km from the viewpoint. We also cross one of the highest passes named Yotongla (Altidude: 17,000 feet.) along the East - West Highway on this drive.

The pass is mark with a Chorten and arrays of fluttering prayer. As the road opens into the Chhume Valley, the superb scenery changes to a gentle forest of fir, blue pine and dwarf bamboo and to Chamkahar town.

Lunch at Bumthang, after lunch we will visit Jakar Dzong, the dzong built on a ridge overlooks the valley, visit Namkhe Nyingpo’s Dratshang. Evening stroll around Bumthang town. Overnight Bumthang Hotel.

Day 08

In Bhumthang: After breakfast you will visit; Jakar Dzong administrative center of Bumthang district, Jambay Lhakhang it is one of the 108 monasteries build by Tibetan in the 8th centurary, Kurji Lhakhang it is dedicated to the saint Guru Padmasambhava who was mediated their in the 8th century, Tamshing Lhakhang it was built by Terton Pema Lingpa (Terton mean treasure discover) whose lineage the Royal Family trace their ancestors, Swiss Diary farm.

Later visit; Ura village, Ura is one and half hour drive. The drive is mainly through sheep pastures and along the way you can glimpse a magnificent view of Mountain Gangar Puensum (7239 meters from sea level) from Ura La. The main characteristic of this village is the closely clustered houses, en-route stop at Mebar Tsho(Lake of Burning Fire) this is the sacred lake for the Bhutanese who belive that Pema Lingpa discovered religious treasures from this lake in 12th century, Evening stroll in Bumthang town. Overnight Bumthang hotel.

Day 09

Bumthang to Thimphu: After early breakfast we will drive to Thimphu. Lunch at Chendebji. Overnight Thimphu Hotel.

Day 10

Thimphu to Paro : After breakfast we will drive back to Paro. Overnight at hotel in Paro.

Day 11

Paro Departure: After early break fast drive to the airport for departure.
