Trashiyangtse is a small pretty, quiet town. The people here are known for making wooden bowls and containers, which are said to be the best in Bhutan. Just below the town is the Chorten Kora, the only stupa to be built based on the stupa of Boudhanath in Nepal? It was built in 1740 by Lama Ngawang Loday. An hour’s walk from Chorten Kora is a village called Bomdeling, where the black necked cranes habitat in winter.
