Bumthang Valley is popular destination
This beautiful valley is religious heartland of the nation and home to some of the oldest Buddhist temples and monasteries. Among them are the Tharpaling Monastery, Thangbi Monastery, Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, which were built in the 7th century.

Other sites include the Jakar Dzong, which is perched on the top of a small hill above the Bumthang town. The Dzong was originally built by the great grand father of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal as a monastery in 1594. The Dzong is now used as the administrative centre of Bumthang Dzongkhag.
